FACEBOOK SXSW
A speaker series and activation space inside Facebook Austin HQ.
At SXSW 2019, we hosted festival goers at Facebook’s Austin Headquarters. An intimate stage saw a series of panels highlighting product case studies and best in class examples of how Facebook promotes creativity on its platforms. Activations for Instagram Stories and Messenger engaged our guests during downtime between speakers.
To promote new features in Instagram Stories we created “A Day at Zilker Park”, an interactive video installation featuring animations of iconic moments in one of Austin’s most treasured locations. Large markers on the floor, represented 4 different Stories features. Guests were encouraged to stand on the markers to trigger the animation playback using customized motion sensor game mats. Once on the mat, with their phone out and Stories engaged they’ll capture the action in the park with their chosen feature. As a special surprise and delight moment, we created a takeover animation that was triggered when all 4 guests were working together to bring the park to life.
